Environmental Improvement
We will develop our successful Crime Intelligence Partnership into one of best practice for the UK. Its continuing objectives will be to prevent and deter crime, apprehend and prosecute offenders, reduce business losses as a result of crime, reduce the opportunity to commit crime and provide a safe and friendly environment for visitors.
Our street teams will be maintained. The Red Cap Warden service provides customer service to visitors, deters crime and anti-social behaviour and assists in the management of the street environment and the Clean Team focuses on added value activity such as chewing gum removal and the cleansing of street furniture. This is work wholly additional to that provided by council services.
We will strive for enhanced enforcement from the statutory authorities - from which a better street environment can be achieved without policy change and we plan to invest into additional enforcement services to deliver a dedicated resource for the District. We will continue to invest into CCTV services.
Importantly we will help deliver the recommendations of the £40 million ORB Action Plan with Westminster City Council and Transport for London which will incorporate solutions to the issues surrounding street trading, mobile signage, charity collectors, leafleters and general clutter.
