Crossrail work update: December 2011 onwards

Utility work around Bond Street station will be postponed over the Christmas period from Friday 9 December to Sunday 8 January. Work is due to restart on Monday 9 January 2012 and it is expected to take up to 12 weeks to complete.

Throughout this period the diversion of eastbound traffic between Duke Street and Vere Street will remain in place. A single lane of westbound traffic will continue to use this section of Oxford Street. The south-side traffic lane not in use will be pedestrianised, creating extra space for shoppers. Waist-height barriers will be in place to ensure the safe separation of pedestrian areas from the traffic lane.

Update on the Crossrail utility work from June 2011

Work on the Northern side of Oxford Street carriageway is now complete. From 23 June the team will transfer the work site to the South. This will take place at night to reduce disruption to traffic-flow and is expected to take a few weeks to complete. Westbound traffic will then use the Northern side lane.

Water mains work on Oxford Street will continue at night with acoustic shelters built to minimise noise. Vehicle access to Stratford Place will be maintained during the day. This work is expected to be completed by mid-July.
