Clean Team
The New West End Company Clean Team provide a daily ‘wash and brush up’ to Oxford Street and Regent Street before most shoppers arrive in the West End.
From 6am, 7 days a week, the team wash and dry the pavements along the two busiest streets to provide a fresh start to the retail day.
Additionally, the team undertake a deep clean of the pavements to remove an estimated 300,000 pieces of chewing gum dropped by visitors every year. It’s a bit like painting the Fourth Bridge, just as soon as they finish at Tottenham Court Road, it’s time to start again at Marble Arch.
In 2010, a new ‘members only’ service was introduced. An on-demand janitorial service is available to assist retailers with external spillages and to help maintain their shop frontages to a high standard.
Finally, every year, Clean Team leads the annual West End Spring Clean – a week long programme of activities designed to improve the physical appearance of the West End by fostering a community spirit amongst retailers and other businesses in the West End.
