COVID-19: An Update from Chief Executive, Jace Tyrrell

I would like to take this opportunity to update you on recent actions taken by New West End Company.

Due to the continuing COVID-19 situation, we have taken the decision to furlough a number of our work colleagues. This decision has not been taken lightly but should ensure the future strength of New West End Company, enabling us to be in the best possible position to help the West End recover strongly after the Covid-19 pandemic is over.

In terms of services to you, our members and partners, our business hours remain unchanged, and we have ensured that we can continue to provide the core essential services needed to support you over the coming weeks and months.

We will maintain our communication programme to keep you fully updated on developments on a regular basis along with our advocacy programme to all levels of Government.

We are still providing 24 hour security across the district, supporting our operational members and providing additional security to those West End businesses that have temporarily closed.

Our top focus at this stage is to manage the impact of the pandemic on West End businesses, support your businesses and employees, and explore the wide range of the recovery measures that need to be taken to ensure  we are in a position to re-open up our district and work for the strongest possible recovery.

If you have any queries, please email covid@newwestend.com and a member of the team will be in touch.

Bringing the West End Together

From next week, in partnership with Microsoft, we are launching our new West End Resilience LIVE programme.  This is a regular, weekly, web-based series of inspiring speakers and conversations to celebrate the strength, sustainability, resilience and future of the West End, bringing together businesses, employees and others during these unprecedented times.

Click here for details of our first session on Wednesday 15 April at 4pm.

The first programme will focus on individual health and well-being for all of us during this difficult time.  Our guest speaker will be Helen Keeble, Head of HR for the Commercial Partner Team at Microsoft UK.

We encourage you to forward this invitation to any colleagues, business groups, family members or friends who you think would be interested.

We are lining up a range of high level policy, industry and personal development experts for future programmes.  If there are any particular speakers you would like to hear from, please let is know – think big and think broad.

As we come to the long Easter Weekend, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our team, partners and members for your hard work and support during this testing time for us all. I am constantly impressed by the professionalism and positive attitude of our friends and colleagues. I am very confident that together we can ensure that the West End comes out of this period stronger and more determined than ever to deliver a brighter future for all.

I wish you, your families and colleagues a restful Easter.

Keep well and stay safe,

Jace Tyrrell, Chief Executive
