On Tuesday 6 November, Oxford Street will be the first in the UK to kick-start the festive season as it officially lights up the Capital! As a trend-setter famous for ‘firsts’ and in response to growing consumer demand for ‘experiences’, Oxford Street will launch Christmas with a brand new, experience-led event of in-store gigs, one night only shopping and dining offers plus a series of surprise and delight moments.
Now in its 59th year of celebrations, Oxford Street will reinvent its traditional outdoor switch-on show, treating shoppers instead to pop up performances from UK artists in select stores. This will mark the start of its seven week ‘Christmas is Calling’ campaign, showcasing the street’s unrivalled festive shopping offering including exclusive product, enhanced services and seasonal activity.
The Christmas lights will also see an injection of colour with the addition of new purple baubles, lighting up London for workers, shoppers and tourists alike to get in the festive spirit. The organisers are fully committed to protecting the environment, using 750,000 LED bulbs in 1,778 bright baubles, which use 75% less energy than conventional bulbs.
