To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic Christmas Lights switch on on Oxford Street, this year we unveiled an innovative, brand new scheme, featuring 27 spectacular light curtains draped over the length of the street, made up of 220,000 sparkling LED lights. Not only visually compelling, the new lighting scheme utilises the latest in progressive LED technology which provides energy savings of up to 90% against conventional lighting.
Following positive feedback from shoppers on the format of the 2018 Christmas Lights Switch On, we once again hostsed an experiential shopping evening, with brands along the street hosting festive offerings and events, incluing hair and make-up pamper sessions at Lush, a live DJ set and prosecco at River Island and a live band at Asics. Partnering with Capital Xtra, Nike and Topshop hosted in-store gigs, with rising starlet rapper Ms Banks and singer-songwriter Joy Crookes treating crowds to hip-hop, grime and R&B.
For many, the Oxford Street Christmas Lights Switch-On heralds the start of Christmas, and we welcomed over 350,000 visitors to enjoy #festivefeelings on the street.
