To coincide with the Oxford Street Christmas Lights Switch On, New West End Company hosted a reception at Selfridges on 6 November with our key members and partners to launch the West End Christmas festivities. The event was held in the Tax-Free lounge at Selfridges and was attended by 100 West End businesses, public sector representatives and community members.
Speakers included Cllr Nickie Aiken, Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Lindsey Hall, the Rt. Hon. Lord Mayor of Westminster and Anne Pitcher, Managing Director, Selfridges.
Anne Pitcher opened the event, noting that retailers have a civic responsibility in the neighbourhood towards placemaking.
Our Chief Executive Jace Tyrrell championed new experiences for consumers, work through collaboration and a great Christmas trading period.
The Leader of the Council outlined the key plans for the transformation of the Oxford Street District, noting the 96 projects across 87 streets and spaces that have been identified for improvements.
The Lord Mayor of Westminster closed the event by looking ahead to next year when the Elizabeth Line will be open meaning many more visitors will be accessing the West End and all it has to offer.
