We Are Hiring a Head of Sustainability to join our team in London's West End

JOB TITLE: Head of Sustainability 

DEPARTMENT: Sustainable District

REPORTING TO: Chief Operating Officer

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development, delivery and ongoing review of New West End Company’s Road to Zero Sustainability Action Plan and projects
  • Drive and project manage New West End Company’s core targets of:
           o Improving air quality
           o Enhancing and promoting the sustainable experience
           o Supporting our members and the district to get to net zero carbon by 2040
           o Develop and lead community strategy to bring together businesses, residents and local workers

KEY TASKS

  • Engage with a wide range of members and stakeholders to continue to develop our Road to Zero Sustainability Action Plan
  • Contract manage retained sustainability consultancy including ongoing contract as well as annual strategic review.
          o Input and review as required of key collateral and policy documents
          o Input into procurement processes as required
  • Work with retained consultancy to ensure New West End Company is aware of and reacting to any relevant legislative and policy changes
  • Generate ideas and support content creation for the member hub, all sustainability related events, webinars, member and corporate communications
  • Representation at key industry events and speaking opportunities on relevant panels and thought leadership discussions
  • NWEC lead representative at key stakeholder groups and committees
  • Action plan annual review and incorporation into annual business planning process
  • Support and facilitation of quarterly Sustainability Steering Group (content, briefing chair, engagement with group members etc)
  • Support team members in delivery of actions outlined in the Road to Zero Sustainability Action Plan

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of government strategy, legislation and best practice in sustainability
  • Committed and passionate about sustainability issues and able to engage and inspire and persuade a wide range of stakeholders and build up strong relationships and networks
  • Track record of successful project and budget management and experience managing complex stakeholder structures and building strong relationships
  • Approachable and personable with a member focused approach
  • Strong and confident communicator with skills to be able to produce clear, concise, engaging and accurate verbal and written communications
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Google Suite)
  • Drives Change – through ability to lead others and adopt innovative solutions, act decisively with a passion to achieve results
  • Previous experience of implementing a sustainability or community strategy would be preferred

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a relevant role or sector, such as sustainability, a membership organisation or a role project managing collaborative workstreams with a range of stakeholders.
