We are committed to keeping the West End a safe and secure place for visitors as well as for its retailers, hoteliers and restaurateurs. To do this we offer a number of services to our members and diligently monitor issues within and outside the district that could impact their business or staff.
The UK threat level from International Terrorism is currently at SEVERE. This means an attack is highly likely. We recommend that all businesses review their continuity plans and ensure their staff are trained to respond to incidents. You can download full Stay Safe Guidance here.

Specific guidance for security personnel
New West End Company hosts several counter-terrorism training sessions a year that aim to increase staff awareness of how best to reduce and respond to the most likely types of terrorist activities. All sessions are available to members for free. To book you or one of your colleagues onto a course please contact us.
There are currently two types of training available to members:
ACT Awareness (formerly Project Griffin)
Action Against Terrorism Awareness training aims to engage, encourage and enable members of the community to work in partnership with the police to deter, detect and counter terrorist activity and crime.
Project ARGUS is a National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) led initiative, which requests businesses and other organisations to consider their preparedness for a terrorist attack. It achieves this by guiding people through a simulated multi-media attack which identifies the measures that can assist in preventing, handling and recovering from such an incident.
NACTSO Document Awareness Workshop
The workshop is aimed at HR Managers and those responsible for recruitment to increase their knowledge of identity documents and the potential for their abuse.
Our Street security team cover core retail trading hours 7 days a week on our streets and are in direct radio communication with members and the Police to deal with any issues or concerns swiftly.
New West End Company offers a digital radio network providing coverage to Bond, Regent and Oxford Streets and neighbouring streets. This network forms part of a wider West End radio network in partnership with Safer West End and the Metropolitan Police in Westminster.
The benefits of the radio network are:
- Instant access to New West End security team
- Instant access to the local Police team
- Silent alert capability
- Standalone digital system
- Wider area coverage, all of central Westminster
- Retail to retail communications
